Mug Rug for Santa...
Trying to come up with my first project to post, the idea of a Santa Mug Rug just popped into my head. I really thought I might have something no one else had thought to craft. But, after checking the Internet, I realized it was not a new idea. I hope you enjoy the one I designed for the project.
Mug rugs can be made as complicated as you like, or very simple like the one I designed for Santa.
This project will make a cute gift to give the youngest children on your Christmas list. It really should be given a few days before Christmas and possibly with the clear glass mug and a few decorated cookies.
Finished size: 6" x 9"
Materials:
Candy cane print fabric (or your choice of fabric) for (#1) front and (#2) back section.
White fabric for (#3) front strip (seam allowance is 1/2" to attach to section #1)
Batting cut slightly larger than back section (to be trimmed after quilting)
Binding - I used packaged binding, but you may cut your own
3 buttons and embroidery thread for Ho Ho Ho
Rick rack - 7" length (optional)
Measurements for cutting your fabric
Work completed on front design
Trim batting after quilting
With the front and back sandwiched together, you are ready to apply the binding around all the edges
Special notes:
My inspiration for the Ho Ho Ho came from a Christmas stocking pattern by McCalls. Another idea would be to apply the child's name.
