Small Town Main Street ....for Monday's Country Roads

Organic Coffee ?
In a Small Town?
Well, true to the sign, that is exactly what I will be getting
 this early morning.

And, how early would that be?
The sun is showing it's face just above the horizon...
As you can see,
the main street is still empty of parked cars.

It's my favorite time of the day.

A table is waiting outside for me,
or....

how about joining me inside, for a cup of special blend.
We can catch up with some town news
 and, maybe a little gossip.

Gathering Strength From Each Other..... for Monday's Country Back Roads

This is not the first time,
my camera has captured these two old barns.

They speak out to me.
 So much so,
that I cannot pass by them without a quick look.

You do the math....driving by once a week,
 for more than 15 years.

True friends
holding each other up, as the years pass by.

Monday, on the Prairie, started with storms and 14 inches of rain.
The sun is now shining...
Enjoy your week !

I Would Like You to Meet Shep

Not exactly an original name for a White German Shepherd. I learned, early in his life, he had a injury to one ear.

Do you see the gentle nature in his face?

I met him a few months ago while purchasing the new landscape stones for my garden.

He was right there, watching the owner and me load up the stones on the truck.

Click HERE to read another story about a dog named Shep.

The real story here is the love they share with each other.
The lucky two have been companions for over 12 years.

Friends in the Country

Some of us are more brave than others! Don't kid yourself, it was not an easy task to climb to the top of my old windmill and tie it down.

I was looking through the old photos of when I first bought the farm and came across this photo. It was a very windy day when the windmill brake decided to come loose. The windmill would not stop turning around. Being a newcomer to the country lifestyle, I almost panicked at what to do about it. I called a newly acquainted country friend, and he came right over. He thought nothing about climbing up the steps to the top of this fast turning windmill. As you can see by the photo, the top of a windmill is not small.

The windmill is old and has been repaired a few times since then. But when something breaks loose on a very windy weekend day, you must rely on the generosity of neighbors and friends.

By the way, I couldn't resist altering the photo in photoshop to give the double image effect. I also had it framed, to give to him as a thank you gift.
