A Fence to Withstand the Test of Time...for Friday Fences

Taken in account of the weight of these vintage posts....
One can only wonder if they were poured-in-place.

I was so fascinated with their size, that I had to photograph all three sides of the property.

The Georgian Style Home is equally impressive.

My youngest daughter and I found the home in the small town of Navasota Texas.

Hmmmm....
I wonder if this is an invitation, for me, to drop in for afternoon tea ?

Peeking Through the Fence for Friday Fences....

One of the charms of traveling through so many small towns, in Texas, is finding the older historical homes.
This truly was a lucky find, that my youngest daughter told me about. We both share a love for older homes.
It is situated in the heart of town.... but at the same time, very secluded by many large trees.

Here is the vantage point from where my camera and myself had to photograph.

I must admit, in all my photography, this is the first time I felt like the.....
Paparazzi.

It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas...Everywhere You Go

One of my favorite places to photograph is on The Bluff. Click HERE to read other posts about this historical landmark, located just a few miles from where I live.

The Texas Park is gearing up for it's annual Festival of Lights.

Decorations are in the process of being installed and strands of lights are ready to dazzle us in the evening.

Red bows accent yards and yards of garland.

The Kreische Historial Home will be open on the week ends before Christmas, with lights burning brightly.

A rear view of the old Smoke House.

The park is a photographers' feast...

Natural stone dots the countryside.

One lone summer flower holds on, after near freezing weather this past week.

Shrubbery, with red berries, add to the Christmas atmosphere.

The Bluff rises 220 feet to give this magnificent view. The river winds its' way through the small community below.

Beautiful views each step of the way.

Hope you enjoyed my afternoon on The Bluff.
And to think...there is no admission charge!

A Touch of Spring for Friday

When I see the flowers of the Red Bud Tree, I feel confident that Spring has arrived. The rose purple flowers grow in clusters, blooming on the branches before the leaves appear.

The grand old tree, without it's foliage, stands so majestically in the background. The two stone columns, topped with large white pineapple finials, flank each side of the stone walkway.

You may have already guessed, this is a Texas Historical Home. To respect the owners' private residence, I decided not to photograph the home.

It looks like Spring is also showing by the bloom of a white iris.
