Look Who is the Birthday Girl...

There is a Birthday Girl in our family in July....and that girl is me!

There will be no band playing and no parade. But there will be BIG changes for Meggie on the Prairie.

With the upcoming birthday, I've had to take a hard look at what direction my next step in life will become.

When the first digit on your birthday number changes to a higher number, you realize that your work load may need to be re-adjusted.

So, I've decided to sell the farm and buy something that will free me to explore more of my creative side. I want to have time to sew and paint on canvas again. More time to explore my Scottish ancestry. There will still be decorating projects and a new garden to create.

Starting this week, I will post about my "new" historic turn-of-the-century home. My hopes are that you will continue to follow me on this new journey in my life.

I will still be living on the prairie....just moving a few miles down the road.

  1. That must have been a very difficult decision to make- to leave the beautiful home that you've created and the land that you've nurtured. It is exciting to have a new project though - one that, as you say, will allow you more time for the things that you love. I'm very much looking forward to following you on your new adventure, and wish you the very happiest of birthdays. Much love. x

  4. Happy Birthday, dear friend! Wish I was near to bake you a cake and celebrate together:-)
I'm so happy you've found a place that will give you more time to be creative. I remember my dad saying to me once how much he admired that I could "change courses" so easily--he was raised to continue on a path without questioning even if it wasn't necessarily the right one. I'm also thinking how this apron brought us together and in fact, do feel like we've become sisters. I can't wait to be a part of this new chapter unfolding for you. I love you, Susan

  6. Happy Birthday, Meggie! I hope you have the loveliest of days and get thoroughly spoilt.
If I lived a little closer, I would be round with my sleeves rolled up and ready to help you with packing, etc. Exciting times lie ahead, and I have no doubt that the creative side of you is already working hard to make your new home beautiful.
    Thinking of you, xx

  10. Happy Birthday!! I wish you much happiness in your new home. I hope you will share your journey as you make the new home yours with us. I'd love to start over somewhere new, we've lived in this house 25 years now and I think it's time for a change. But, getting hubby on board with this idea is going to be a challenge.

    1. Hello Cheryl...This decision did not come easy. Sorting through a farm and deciding what to keep is not easy. It will ultimately be a good move for me!
