Tribute to a Live Oak on the Prairie....for Monday's Country Back Roads

Awesome !
Do you ever see a tree that takes your breath away
every time you pass by it?

This is how I feel about this magnificent Live Oak Tree.
It sits in a pasture much alone,
except for the cattle that seek refuge
during the afternoon hot sun.

The oak's branches extend quite a distance,
then dip down to touch the earth.

See what I mean....
Green pastures, blue skies, and one single Texas Live Oak.

Happy Monday!

Steeple Bathed in Sunlight.....for InSPIREed Sunday

Sunrise was at 6:56 this morning....

I've often thought,
how much more beautiful the front view would be.....

if someone trimmed back the crepe myrtle.
covering the windows.

For The Love of Bowls....A Thursday Show and Tell

I love how the morning sun casts a wavy shadow,
on the newest addition to my ever growing
 bowl collection.
This dinnerware collection is called Pistoulet,
 based on the book,
The Secrets of Pistoulet by Jana Kolpen.

for some interesting reading
about the book.

Did you know Pfaltzgraff is no longer crafted in the USA?
I had no idea they closed their facilities and sold out to Lifetime Brands.
Much to my surprise,
the label which still bears the name Pfaltzgraff,
also includes the words,
"Made in China"

to read about the closing of Pfaltzgraff,
 an American Factory.

While making the easy 1 click on Amazon, I decided to order a second bowl.
The pattern is called Villa della Luna,
based on the book "Dancing with the Moon, a Story of Love at the Villa della Luna"
by Jana Kolpen and Mary Tiegreen.

The inside glaze is a delicious butterscotch color.

Next step....
 prepare my favorite pasta recipe
to fill my Italian inspired bowl !

A Sure Sign Spring is on the Way.....Gardening 2017

This will be my second Spring in the Bungalow....
and the first time my Anna Apple Tree has bloomed.

I've always thought the summers of Texas, were too hot to grow apples.
The Anna Apple is low-chill and also a self pollinator.

Did you know the Daffodil is the national flower of Wales?

The hyacinth bulbs are ready to burst into bloom...
maybe another day or two.

No Spring garden would be complete without a few tulips.

As you can see in the background, from photographing a couple of days later,
the soft pink hyacinths are now in full bloom.

And in contrast,
my tulips have opened with a color surprise...

Texas Star for Friday Fences....

I like it...
It's a very common star seen in these parts,
often times displayed on a gate.
So easy to purchase at the local feed store, lumber company,
and yes, even the local Walmart.
