Peeking Through the Fence for Friday Fences....

 

One of the charms of traveling through so many small towns, in Texas, is finding the older historical homes.

This truly was a lucky find, that my youngest daughter told me about. We both share a love for older homes.

It is situated in the heart of town.... but at the same time, very secluded by many large trees.

 

 

Here is the vantage point from where my camera and myself had to photograph.

 

I must admit, in all my photography, this is the first time I felt like the.....

Paparazzi.

New Plans for a Life in the Country

 

 

For several weeks I have been struggling with a way to introduce the next chapter in my life.

 

 I'm reminded of a line from my beloved Outlander Series...Claire says to Jamie, as he is awkwardly trying to ask a question,

"Out with it."

 

So here it is.....I have permanently moved back to the Prairie. 

The truth is, I never did let go. This past year is an indication, in how I went back and forth with my posts. Each month, I would travel to familiar places to photograph, and enjoy my friends on the prairie.

I've started a new project, with the buying of a 1920's Craftsman Bungalow, including a Studio for my creative side, and mini-barn.

So much work ahead, to make it my own.

 

 

The best part of this house is that it is original.

 

 

Plenty of natural light, as you can see by the reflections on the floors.

 

 

Although the kitchen is in need of new counter tops and sink, I will definitely be keeping the original kitchen cabinets.

 

 

The ceilings tiles will also stay.

 

 

Even the shiplap boards, on the walls, will stay.

It was just by chance that I saw the newly built home, nestled in the dense greenery.

Still Green in July for Friday Fences....

 

Although the fence and post appear to be about 2' tall, I wouldn't bet on jumping over it.

It's a visual illusion.... the land drops off substantially just beyond the tall grass in in foreground.

 

 

"Stifling Heat" is how the weatherman is describing out temperatures. Thank goodness we have a steady breeze to off-set the high humidity.

Summer Has Arrived for Monday's Country Back Roads

 

Today I set out to drive some of my favorite spots on the back roads. The pastures are full of large round bales of hay from the first cutting of the summer.

 

 

The terrain is rolling hills and big blue Texas skies....

 

 

with winding roads.

 

 

 I was lucky to catch the photo of St John the Baptist Catholic Church Steeple. Knowing that the doors are open, it was the perfect last stop of the day.

Unique Fence Design for Friday Fences

 

Although in need of a fresh coat of paint, one can still see the beauty in the fence surrounding the Hardmeyer-York House.

 

 

The historical home, built in 1874, is now occupied by the Lee County Heritage Society.

Give Me Flowers....in the Garden

 

It's easy to see why I love the Rudbeckia flower...

 

 

This summer, rain has been the constant companion of the garden. So unlike most years, when we are praying for a little rain in June and July.

 

 

The stems and foliage are almost waist high to me.

 

 

The variegated foliage of the canna gives the garden a tropical look.

 

 

My flowers gardens always include daylilies. They give so much for so little care. The blooms only last for one day, with a single stem producing four or five buds. The stem then provides beauty with another bloom, for each following day.

 

 

Another faithful flower is the chrysanthemum. If pinched back, after the early blooms, you will get another showing in the Fall.

 

 

And last....my favorite, the Daisy.
