An Unexpected Stop, on the Road to Clan MacDonald Lands

If it had not been for our wonderful Isle of Skye, native born tour guide, we would have missed this view. Gus knew all the out of the way places.

When my daughter and I first arrived at Blairdhu House, in Kyleakin, our host suggested him as a driver....lucky for us.

Traveling by way of the A851, he said, "Let's make a side trip for another beautiful spot to photograph". The A851 road is on the peninsula of Sleat.

Do you not agree...incredibly beautiful reflections on the water.

A wonderful way to experience life on the island, with the people who actually live.....

and work there.

Not the usual tourist stop.

The clarity of the water captured my heart.

Peaceful....I could stay forever.
Meggie Mac

  1. oh yes beautiful beautiful. I had a chance to visit the Isle of Skye when I was 21 for one reason or another I didn't go and have regretted it ever since, it is one of the few places I will get to before I quit travelling...great inspiration for me here.

    1. You know, Nicole, that photo was not tweaked in photo-shop. The reflections were that amazing. You can even see the clouds in the reflection. What I didn't show was a picnic table, with a family eating their lunch. It was an exceptional moment.

    1. Thanks, Michelle. This was taken in early October, last year. My daughter and I had nothing but good weather during the entire 18 days.

  10. You went! So happy for you! Beautiful photos ... And stunningly good weather for the Fall in Scotland. Like you, my favorite memories are getting a feel for how different (and same) the lifestyle is. My bucket list does include a trip to Skye and the Callanish Stones on Lewis. (Took me forever to write a response -- my iPad and Safari were not cooperating.)

  11. Some places I recognize and others you got to see off the beaten track were so lovely.

Means I'll just have to go again.

I love Scotland and the Isle of Skye.

Your photos have been lovely, so enjoyable.
